Does the niqab oppress women and should it be banned ?
As you know in France its been banned in public places but do you think we should ban it in England too as it might be a symbol of female oppression?

hijab isnt meant to be a symbol of oppression its acually meant to be a form of protection for women. if you have thousands of pounds ur not going to flash it everywhere coz then someone might steal it. like wise a women is meant to be precious and therefore hijab is meant to cover her beauty for her own protection ie rape. if she feels more comfortable in wearing niqaab then y should that be a problem?? isnt it better for her to feel safe then for her to plees other ppls misconseptions about hijaab and niqaab.
btw im not judgin anyone or nuffin, i dnt evn wear niqaab

Hi Amina!
I don't think anyone has the right to tell anyone else what to wear or what not to wear but the arguments in faovur of hijab are quite week...i mean people say things like if you have a diamond u keep it hidden not on open display but its a false analogy cos people have feelings unlike diamonds! and r more precious...

but do you dig the ninja-look? i sort of respect the women who do wear it out of their interpretation of islam but looks seriously out of place on the streets on London man...if you wanna wear that stuff...go to Arabia and wear it..or medieval Japan!

but surely if people are more precious and have feelings unlike diamonds you would want to protect them even more. saym i dnt encourage or discourage the ninja look simply because it is not a compulsary deed. i wear hijab and unlike alot of ppl i do think that you have to cover your hair. but i not feel the saym about niqaab i dnt feel its necessary but each to thier own.

but shouldnt women have the choice of if they want to cover or not?
i hate the argument that goes: if a woman is not covered she is partially to blame if some guy rapes her.
muslims often say that unfortunately!

wait.......hw do you knw if she is doin it by choice or not????
all the niqaabis i knw all choose to wear it not the other way round.
and number two: nt tryin to judge but if u think about it hw many hijaabis hav u ever heard of gettin raped. im not sayin there isnt any but the numbers are far less significant. dnt u think there is some sort of reasoning behind that. but jus so u knw i dnt think thats a reason to rape anyone im jus sayn.

Re: Does the niqab oppress women and should it be banned ?
yeh i kind of agree with u if they choose to but i dont know about the statistics..
coz there ain't that many people in the UK who wear hijab anyway so that wont be a fair comparison anyway..if we compare the number of rapes here with the number of rapes in a muslim country where a lot of women where the niqab i dont fink it will be statisitically significant a difference...depends on the standard deviation etc. lol my geekiness coming out there...plus i tihnk a lot of rapes happen in pakistan etc that aren't reported...

if u standardly deviate it i think the stats would be more or less the saym. but if u think about it there would actually be reasons to rape both. not tryin to encourage it or nuffin. i mean both are attractive in their own ways (im not gay btw jus so u knw)
