Do you think love can exist online? Can you talk to someone for months online and fall in love with them? Or is that rubbish, does saying "i love you" online mean nothing?

Personally, I feel it depends on who you're saying it to. For example, if you know for sure that this person exists, and who they are, say you know someone that knows them, would be able to acknowledge them on the street, it''s much different to a staranger you've met online that could be anyone, and all you have to go by is that person's word.

I think if you know this person, but talk mainly online or by other means of cyber communication, the "i love you" is perfectly valid however if you're just talking to them online, have no clue about them in reality outside of the cyber world then it's not.

Also, I think it depends on the situation, and in which sense you're telling them you love them. If you're telling them you've fallen in love with them - I wouldn't buy it simply because I don't think you can fall in love with someone based on the way they act online... unless of course you talk by many other means (i.e on the phone) and possible with intent of marriage.

But if you're just telling them you love them, as a friend or whatever, like you'd love your friends, that's slightly more buyable.

What are you opinions? Does love exist over the internet?

In my opinion - YES ^^
At first I wasn't so sure, becuase my friend fell in love with someone online called Embry Call. But then when she told him she did, he moved away. Later we found out that Embry Call was some character from Twilight

Buuuutttt, over the years - let's just say I think love can exist over the net. Yes, you haven't met that person in flesh and bone - but technology has adapted so much that we can communicate in so many different ways - Fb, MSN, webcam, SMS. Sometimes I do doubt that love can exist in the cyber world because you can't see people's reactions, or emotions, they're just words on a screen ya knoooow. But to me at the end of the day love is an emotion right, not a thing that yo have to give to someone in person, so an emotion can be expressed in the cyber world....!

Well webcam kind of overrides the whole "not knowing they exist" thing.. ;p I guess, yeah you don't know if it's really, really who they are like I for one act differently off the internet.

But surely there's a difference between love and other emotions?

i personally believe that love and emotions are the same. if you have feelings for someone then it may be called love and if you hate them then you oviously dont love thme and would keep ur distance !!!!!!!!!!

But i would say that you can love someone you talk to over the internet ..its happened to me a couple of times but in the end i either realize that the person is just playing with your emotions or it really is love !!

I don't know about online love...as I've never experienced it...but I do believe in love. I'm with Hum on this one, It doesn't fade away, it is as strong an emotion that everyone makes it out to be and yes, if someone does hurt you, you still love them.
